It all started when…

Do you have one of those movies where life just slows down and your whole focus is indulging in the movie and forgetting what is going on around you? ‘Ten Things I Hate About You’ is that movie for me. Yes, it’s a teeny bopper cheesy romance but I love every ounce of it and it never gets dull. I can watch it in my sleep and still smile at all the goopy parts. But the moment that gets me every time is where Kat stands up in front of the class and reads her poem..

And, it is that moment that I want to be able to recreate for myself on a daily basis. I want to have the ability to pick any moment and in that moment find ten things in my life that I am grateful for. As an example, my list at this moment in time as I sit in my kitchen with the snow falling outside and the whine of my daughter’s virtual school playing in the background would be as follows: complete silence amidst the online school, passed out puppies, a roaring fire, mountains, sore arms, bubbly water, snuggly robes, kids nearby, Tension Tamer tea, and bananas.

I have to remind myself so often to stop and focus on the moment in front of me. This concept to challenge my mind to snap instantly to gratitude in any moment is one that I find challenging and necessary in my mindfulness growth. Trust me, I usually lose myself and my temper in my frustrating moments. I’m hoping this blog will make me more accountable and turn to gratitude rather than give into my frustrations at least once or twice a day. I figure it can’t hurt to try!
